Hi, I'm Mikayla Lanoie

A sex therapist, counsellor, strength and conditioning specialist, and yoga instructor who cares deeply about helping people feel more connected to their bodies, desires, intimacy, and relationships. I work from a place of authenticity and heart. I show up as a real person, not a blank slate. I laugh, I swear, I make room for messiness and tenderness, and I believe healing should be human and grounded.

My View on Health and Healing

Health is far more than the absence of illness; it’s a dynamic, multidimensional experience that includes our physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual well‑being. I believe sexuality can be woven through all of these layers. It shapes how we connect, how we feel in our bodies, how we understand ourselves, and how we move through the world.

I don’t see sexuality as something separate or siloed; it’s part of the larger story of who we are. I believe pleasure matters. I believe embodiment matters. I believe healing can be tender and messy, playful and profound.

And I believe every person carries the capacity to reconnect with their most authentic, grounded, and whole self—sexually and otherwise.

What My Work Actually Is

This work isn’t about fixing you. It’s about helping you understand yourself more fully and reconnect with the parts of you that may have been pushed aside by shame, fear, or expectation.

My practice sits at the intersection of sexuality, embodiment, and emotional healing. I work in a way that’s:

  • body‑aware,

  • emotionally intuitive,

  • rooted in our relationship, where being truly seen becomes part of the healing,

  • grounded in your nervous system, inner parts, and the stories you’ve carried.

Together, we slow things down so you can feel safe, release shame, and explore the aspects of your sexual and relational self that are asking for curiosity and care. This kind of work can deepen your mind–body connection and support your capacity for pleasure, confidence, and intimacy.

What It's Like to Work With Me

I meet clients with warmth, honesty, and unconditional positive regard. I work collaboratively and from a strengths‑based perspective, helping you build on what you already know about yourself.

I support individuals, couples, and relationship systems in exploring intimacy, desire, connection, and the tender places where things get complicated. Every person who walks into my office is unique, which is why I use an integrative approach tailored to your needs.

My work is rooted in an anti‑oppressive, trauma‑informed, and sex‑positive framework—including being kink‑affirming and sex‑worker‑allied. I value authentic connection and consider it an honour to support people through their healing.

I bring a lot of humanity into the room. I’m warm, direct, grounded. We move at a pace that keeps you connected to yourself—not overwhelmed, not shut down—and I’ll walk with you as you go deeper, when you’re ready.

Who I Am

I am a neurodivergent, queer, polyamorous, ciswoman with an understanding of intersectional oppression and vulnerability. I know the feelings associated with not ‘fitting in’ and have always been driven to support people in self-improvement and self-acceptance without relying on societal messages around what is ‘normal’.

How I Got Here

My path into this work began in the world of movement. I completed my Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Manitoba and started my career in the fitness industry as a strength and conditioning specialist, group fitness instructor, and yoga teacher.

I quickly realized that the most meaningful part of my work wasn’t the physical training, it was the conversations – the moments when people opened up about their relationship with their bodies, their confidence, and the stories they told themselves about who they were supposed to be.

This led me to pursue a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and subsequently a certificate in Holistic Sex Therapy. I am now an AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist and Certified Canadian Counsellor.

Outside The Office

When I’m not in the office, you’ll usually find me moving my body, spending time outside, at the gym or in the yoga studio. I love hiking, camping, and being in water, as nature gives me the space to recharge.

As a believer in physical wellbeing and the value of movement, I maintain my certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Group Fitness Instructor and Registered Yoga Teacher.

As much as I love a physically active lifestyle, I also value my downtime, which typically consists of tending to my ever-growing collection of houseplants, reading, meditating, or occasionally unwinding with a video game, often with partners, friends, or family.
